Pay Per
Click advertising or PPC for short ... l offer this
service with both Google and Yahoo! This does not require as much
editing of your web pages, but it requires the creation of an advertising
campaign(s) that is linked to a dedicated list of keywords and keyphrases.
A much closer daily attention needs to be paid to how these internet
marketing campaign(s) perform. You can set your own budget ... but
once that budget is reached ... then your advert will no longer
be visible on the search engine.
The way it works is that you create a small advert(s) with a link
back to your website. These adverts are linked to keywords and keyphrases
which you bid money on against your competitors. The higher you
bid ... the higher you will show up in the search engines web page
results when people type your keyword or keyphrase into that search
engine.
You can set a limit for the most that you are prepared to pay for
each keyword, and how much you want to spend each day, each month,
or just until your budget is reached, once any of these set options
are met then your advert ceases to show on the search engine. It
is also possible that your bid will be too low and your competitors
will outbid you and push your advert further and further down the
page, or off it all together!
Each time people see your PPC advert and click on it, then that
costs you the price that you bid on .... some times it can cost
you as little as 20¢ or as much as you set your limit, it depends
on your competition, and it can vary from day to day and from hour
to hour.
This can get very expensive though, great care and thought needs
to be taken in choosing the keywords and keyphrases, they need to
be very relative to your business, and also your target market.
The big difference here between PPC and SEO is that when curious
people who may stumble across your advert click on it ... it costs
you money ... with SEO it does not. So for example ... if you are
a plumber with a local business in Panama City Beach you need to
advertise only within the PCB area .. you probably do not want hundreds
of people from say Birmingham AL clicking on your "24 hour
emergency plumber" keyphrase!
The keywords and keyphrases on Yahoo! are generally much cheaper
than those on Google, but Yahoo! has around a 15% share of the search
market, while google enjoys around 70%!!! So you may pay less on
Yahoo! but you will also have a smaller web audience. The cost of
the keywords and keyphrases depends on how many competitors you
have within your business market, and also the general business
market itself. This is a much more expensive alternative than SEO
but the advantages are that once you submit your advert ... within
minutes your advert can be on the first page of Google or Yahoo!
