| In order to do business online you will need to
register a domain name. This is best advised to be a name which
as closely as possible resembles the company name that you are doing
business as, or is something related to your business market. Once
we have your domain name registration completed and your website,
we can put the two together on a web host and people can begin to
view your website.
Classic examples of domain names are : www.google.com, www.youtube.com,
and www.wikipedia.org
There are many domain name extensions available but the cheap domain
names end with the most commonly used extensions which are .com
.org and .net. You can use up to 63 characters for your name composed
of letters and/or numbers, but most special characters such as the
underscore, dollar sign, and exclamation mark are not allowed.
When choosing your domain name it is important to choose one which
is easy for people to remember.
Examples for a fictional company called Baxter's selling sunglasses
in Panama City Beach Fl:
Probably some of the domain names you would like to use are already
taken, so you may have to be a little creative, but remember to
try to keep it simple. If you are going to target sales mainly locally,
it may be a good idea to include the name of the town where you
do business within the domain name ... like in example 5 above.
If you will be doing business nationally then examples 1-4 are better
suited. I will be happy to advise you with suggestions for your
domain name(s).
Purchasing more than one domain name for your business is a good
marketing tactic because you can host your website on one domain
address, and use the others to drive traffic to your website. The
more quality domain names that you own ... the less are available
for your competitors!
The more webpages that you have hosted on a domain name (or on
more than one domain) the more opportunities you will have of obtaining
a high listing with search engines such as Google and Yahoo! ...
and of course the higher your listing ... the more probability that
you will do good business online.
My fee for Domain Names is $9.95 for
one year, with a $15 set up fee. For each additional domain name
please add $9.95 for the name and $5 for the set up fee. I can set
the domain name(s) to auto renew at $9.95 per year without charging
another set up fee if you wish.
You can
